When Physios Meet: After the World Physio Conference

After the World Physiotherapy Conference 2025 in Tokyo, we had the pleasure of welcoming three dedicated physiotherapists from Germany to Kobe: Florian Hohner, Susanne Weidenhausen, and Sascha Scheika. Their visit to Japan wasn’t just about attending the conference—it became a wonderful opportunity to exchange ideas, reflect on practice, and explore potential collaborations across borders.

All three visitors are highly experienced in their fields:

  • Florian Hohner leads Hohner Therapie, a clinic offering a broad range of physiotherapy and manual techniques with a modern, patient-centered approach.

  • Susanne Weidenhausen, from Mainbaby Frankfurt, is deeply specialized in infant and child therapy, with a strong osteopathic background. While she also supports mothers, her main professional passion lies in helping babies and young children thrive.

  • Sascha Scheika, from Proximed Berlin, brings a well-rounded perspective through his work in physiotherapy and osteopathy, with experience in complex cases and rehabilitation.

In our discussions, we exchanged insights about the realities of running a modern clinic, how we use online tools for scheduling and follow-up, and how we adapt to international standards in clinical work. It was refreshing to see how shared challenges—such as patient communication, balancing hands-on work with documentation, and supporting behavior change—play out in different healthcare systems.

We were especially excited to discover that both Sascha and Susanne are also osteopathy instructors in Germany, with years of teaching experience. The idea of inviting them to Japan for a workshop at CrossPhysio is already in discussion—particularly because infant and pediatric osteopathy is still a rare and valuable specialty in Japan. Introducing these techniques and this mindset could be an important addition to local care options for young families.

One theme that resonated in all our conversations: healing is not just about treating symptoms, but about understanding the full picture—from physical patterns to emotional wellbeing, from lifestyle habits to personal history. Whether in Frankfurt, Berlin, or Kobe, the work of physiotherapy continues to evolve, shaped by a global dialogue and a shared passion for helping people move and live better.

Thank you, Susanne, Sascha, and Florian, for your visit and for opening new doors to collaboration and growth.

Let’s keep building these bridges—through movement, knowledge, and human connection.
